Talk about a reversal of fortune.
A week ago, we closed with a flurry to get to the eight-win total for the first time. This time, we felt good about picking a pair of upsets early on, but the rest of the week wasn’t quite as good.
We figured the Milton defense would continue its impressive early season play, but Noah Mackenzie, Jamal Abdal-Khallaq and the rest of the Walpole offense had different ideas. Forty-two points later, we were saddled with our first loss.
Onto Cape Ann League country, where we rode with the hosts from Amesbury against Lynnfield. The visitors were clearly unfazed and rolled to an impressive victory.
Trying to pick the winner in a key South Shore League contest is quickly becoming an exercise in futility. That stayed true in Abington as the host Green Wave handled Rockland to hand us another loss.
In closing, it might be a wise move to stay away from Tabor. The resurgent Seawolves sent another loud message to the ISL that they are for real with a solid win over St. Sebastian’s.
No more dwelling on the past, time to move on.
Catholic Memorial over ST. JOHN’S PREP: Knights find a way to get it done.
Foxboro over CANTON: The Jack Martinelli 300-win chase should end here.
COHASSET over Mashpee: Skippers primed for a big effort in front of a home crowd.
LAWRENCE ACADEMY over St. Sebastian’s: It’s looking like Lawrence Academy is separating itself from the pack in the ISL.
CENTRAL CATHOLIC over Andover: Raiders are beginning to find their mojo at the right time.
WEST BRIDGEWATER over Blue Hills: Should be one of the more entertaining contests on the South Shore.
KING PHILIP over Milford: After years of watching KP put it to us on a weekly basis, we have long since learned our lesson.
Needham over WEYMOUTH: Two BSC teams having very good seasons.
METHUEN over Tewksbury: Rangers get the nod in this juicy MVC encounter.
Natick over WELLESLEY: Redhawks seem to have found a second gear.
