The NFL put out a statement announcing that the Bill-Bengals game, which was suspended in the first quarter Monday night after Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest and needed to be revived on the field, will not resume this week.
There was also no decision on potentially resuming it at a later date. But the plan right now is for the Week 18 schedule to go on as planned.
Locally, barring any further changes, that means the Patriots will face the Bills in Orchard Park on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The full statement reads as follows:
“The NFL continues to be in regular contact with the medical team caring for Damar Hamlin, and also the Bills and Bengals organizations and the NFL Players Association
“After speaking with both teams and the NFLPA leadership, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week.
“The NFL has made no decision regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date.
“The league has not made any changes to the Week 18 regular season schedule.
“We will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available.”
