Bergeron is a high honors student and earned the National German Exam Silver Medal.

SAM BURGESS
FRAMINGHAM
Injuries resulted in a late start to his senior season, but Burgess was nothing short of spectacular in the big meets. After placing second at the Champs Northeast Regionals in 15:21.3, this senior traveled to Balboa Park in San Diego to take seventh at nationals in 15:13.6 against an iron field. He was second to Westford Academy’s Paul Bergeron in the Div. 1 All-Division States in 15:09.01. He stunned the entire state the week before when he destroyed the Wrentham Developmental Center 3.1-mile record in 14:38.9 to take the Div. 1A race. Burgess will attend Harvard.

KAILAS CIATTO
BROOKLINE
Ciatto rebounded from an 11th-place finish in the Bay State Conference Championships to finish a solid eighth in the Div. 1A race in 15:42 and 13th at Div. 1 All-States in 15:55, leading the Warriors to commanding team wins in both meets. A two-time BSC All-Star in cross country, this junior competes on Brookline’s indoor and outdoor track teams. Ciatto focuses on the Bay State Games and AAU meets in the summer.

RYAN CONNOLLY
NORTH ANDOVER
Connolly was undefeated in Merrimack Valley Conference meets, taking the MVC individual title. The senior blazed to victory at the Div. 1B meet in 15:12.7 to lead the Scarlet Knights to the team title and then clocked a 15:56.5 for 14th in the Div. 1 All-State race. An AP student in Government and Politics, Connolly will attend Clemson University.

A varsity and all-league runner since the eighth grade, Gartner owned the distance races at the Div. 4 championships last winter by winning both the mile and 2-mile.

JACK GRAFFEO
WESTFORD ACADEMY
Just a sophomore, Graffeo ran like a seasoned veteran, earning all-star status in the Dual County League with a second-place finish. He was money in the big meets, finishing fourth in the Div. 1A meet, eighth in the Div. 1 All-States and fifth at the Ocean State Invitational. Graffeo ran a swift 15:16 for 20th at the Eastbay Northeast Regionals. Graffeo is an honor roll student who enjoys biking and swimming.

Victorious at the Bay State Invitational, the junior was a strong second at the Merrimack Valley Conference Championships and helped lead Billerica to a 9-1 dual meet record. A member of the National Honor Society, Leslie is a perennial honor roll student and enjoys spikeball, reading, nature and traveling.

NATHAN LOPEZ
ST. JOHN’S PREP
One of the fiercest and most competitive harriers in the state, Lopez was a strong third at both the divisionals and Div. 1 All-States. He was sixth at the Champs Northeast Regionals in 15:36.9 and earned a trip to nationals where he ran a quick 15:46.3 for 29th. The senior captured the Catholic Conference title in a swift 15:20 on a tough Franklin Park course and was third in 12:18 at the Manhattan Invitational. The honor roll student will attend the University of Michigan.

DAVID MANFREDI
WEYMOUTH
The best runner on the South Shore, Manfredi never had an off day with a fifth-place finish in the Div. 1A meet (15:30.3) and 11th at Div. 1 All-States (15:52). Second in the Bay State Conference Meet to Framingham’s Sam Burgess in 15:35.8, Manfredi clocked a 15:41.5 for third at the Frank Kelley Invitational and 15:51.8 at the Twilight Invitational. The honor roll student will attend American University.

DEVIN MOREAU
GREATER LOWELL

The State Vocational champion was third at the Battle at the Border Invitational in 15:49.1 and 12th at the Frank Kelley Invitational with his 16:03.1. Moreau found night racing to his liking as the junior placed ninth at the Twilight Invitational in 15:59. The Commonwealth Athletic Conference champion in 16:17, Moreau is an honor roll student and aspires to major in education, nursing or criminal justice.

RITHIKH PRAKASH
BURLINGTON
The senior had a career day at All-States when he sprinted to victory in the Div. 2 race. All-Conference in the Middlesex League, Prakash led Burlington to the Div. 2A team title the past two years. The honor roll student, a three-sport athlete, was the Div. 4 outdoor 2-mile champion last spring. Prakash will major in computer science at Cornell University.

RYAN SARNEY
OLIVER AMES

The senior ran to a stunning time of 14:58 on Wrentham’s 3.1-mile layout to capture the Hockomock League title.
