Tatiana Tavares, 30, may have used her final moments in life to report her own murder to police.

Both Tavares, of Raynham, and another resident of the home at 80 Ruth Ellen Road called into Raynham Police just after 2 a.m. Tuesday to report a shooting.

But when police and paramedics arrived, according to the Bristol DA’s office, both Tavares and Scott Swale, 43, of Easton, were dead.

The pair “had been engaged in a hostile year-long on again, off again relationship,” DA spokesman Greg Miliote said Tuesday evening.

While Miliote said that the investigation is “active ongoing,” he said preliminary evidence suggests that Swale forced his way into the home by shattering a sliding glass door and then proceeded upstairs to Tavares’ bedroom. There, he shot Tavares in the chest while she was in bed and then shot himself in the head, the DA’s office said.

Man arrested as accessory to New Bedford murder

Police arrested Sterling Robinson, 24, of New Bedford, as an accessory after the fact to the murder of 20-year-old Lorenzo Gomes, also of New Bedford, who was shot right around midnight Monday morning and died from his injuries.

New Bedford Police received a call at around 12:11 a.m. Monday reporting gunshots in the area of Tallman and North Front streets.

At the scene, several neighbors told police they had heard a series of “loud bangs” that sounded like gunshots, according to a statement from the Bristol County District Attorney’s office. Police searched the area and found Gomes inside his vehicle on Belleville Avenue.

Investigators believe that Gomes tried to drive himself to the hospital after being shot but lost consciousness on the way there, according to the DA. Gomes was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Robinson was held in jail through the holiday and is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday morning in New Bedford District Court.

The investigation into the homicide is extremely active at this time and no further information can be released,” Bristol DA spokesman Gregg Miliote said Tuesday.

‘Panicked’ woman drives through Chelmsford garage

A 63-year-old Chelmsford woman drove her Mercedes Benz through a garage attached to a Chelmsford house Tuesday morning, local police said.

Officers were dispatched to the residence on Proctor Road a little after 8:30 a.m., according to a statement, for the incident. When they got there, they found the maroon Mercedes-Benz about ⅔ of the way through the rear of the garage, with the back end of the vehicle stuck on the building’s foundations.

Investigators determined that the woman “panicked after backing into another vehicle in the home’s driveway, and accelerated through the rear of the garage,” according to a police statement.

There were no injuries and police said they detected no signs of impairment in the driver. No criminal charges were filed.
