The Patriots are signing former Eagles and Vikings wide receiver Jalen Reagor to the last spot on their practice squad Thursday, a source confirmed to the Herald.
Reagor, 24, was recently cut by the Vikings and cleared waivers. The Eagles selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and released him after two disappointing seasons. Reagor resurfaced in Minnesota, where he caught eight passes for 104 yards and a touchdown last year.
The 5-foot-11, 197-pounder ranked among the most athletic receivers in his draft class with a 4.47-second time in the 40-yard dash and 42-inch vertical leap. Reagor’s physical gifts hardly translated, though, over a rookie year when he caught 31 of 54 targets for 396 yards and a touchdown. In his second season with the Eagles, he nabbed 33 passes on 57 targets for 299 yards and a couple scores.
On the practice squad, he joins fellow wide receiver Thyrick Pitts, quarterbacks Bailey Zappe and Malik Cunningham, running backs Ty Montgomery and Kevin Harris, tight ends Pharaoh Brown and Matt Sokol, offensive linemen James Ferenntz, Kody Russey and Andrew Stueber, linebackers Joe Giles-Harris, Calvin Munson and Ronnie Perkins, safety Joshuah Bledsoe and punter Corliss Waitman.
On the 53-man roster, the Pats already have receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte.
The Patriots will face Reagor’s old team, the Eagles, in their season opener on Sept. 10.
